Every day for me in my new world of Blogosphere is another chapter in trying to make some more sense of what I see and hear happening around me.  Justin Patten today in Human Law headlines with "Traditional old-style information system departments do not stand a cat in cyber-hell’s chance of winning".

The choices for law firm management leaders today are challenging to say the least, given the industry's natural, yet understandable, conservatism.  It is, nevertheless, a time to observe very closely what is happening around, regardless of sector.  It is time to think clearly how your business is strengthened, weakened or threatened either by not adopting social tools or by adopting them.  Is the choice between participants participating or, instead, simply watching or ignoring completely other participants participating?  Your law firm’s business objectives will shape your decision and the signs on your roadmap, and the increasing build-up of legal related Blogs and Wikis will hopefully illuminate your path more clearly.

It is difficult for anyone to make complete sense of the current social changes, but what is clear is that the social tools to collaborate over the web are here and change is fast, furious and disruptive.  Throw in Clementi and other macro factors affecting the legal industry, and life does not get any easier for law firm managers and ever busy lawyers.  For me, a relative latecomer to Blogs, I am finding them richly informative and helping me to make more sense of the inter-connected world we inhabit.  I hope this Blog on others more experienced who have gone before will provide some additional comfort to those who follow.
